Most companies limit you to five simultaneous connections. Unlike the vast majority of VPNs, Surfshark VPN lets you use an unlimited number of devices with one account. While the monthly plan is expensive, Surfshark VPN does offer excellent value for money. Also, keep in mind that other services such as IVPN-an affordable Editors' Choice winner noted for its focus on transparency and privacy-and Mullvad VPN go so far as to accept cash payments so you can use them without revealing personal information.

Proton VPN is one of the only free VPNs that doesn't impose a data limit on user traffic. If Surfshark VPN is too rich for your blood, there are numerous cheap VPNs and even a few worthy free VPNs to consider. Long-term plans absolutely save you money, but we recommend starting with the shortest possible subscription to make sure the VPN works for you, and only then moving to a longer subscription plan if you like the service. While that's a bit confusing, that annual renewal price is still less than the $66.28 average for VPNs we've reviewed. A two-year plan costs $59.76 as well but renews at that same price every year after the first two. An annual plan starts at $47.88 and renews the following year for $59.76. Like many VPNs, Surfshark VPN incentivizes long-term commitments with steep discounts. This puts Surfshark among the most expensive VPNs we've reviewed, far beyond the $9.99 per month for Mozilla's VPN or the 5 euros ($5.38 at time of writing) per month charged by Mullvad VPN, our most affordable Editors' Choice VPN. Surfshark VPN's subscription costs $12.95 per month, compared with an average of $9.80 per month among services we've tested.

Anyone considering Surfshark VPN but daunted by the price should also look at Proton VPN and Mullvad VPN, which are both less expensive. The company is good at justifying that cost, however, with unlimited device connections, an improving and expanding product, and excellent apps. In a crowded field, Surfshark VPN continues to impress, making it an Editors' Choice winner.

VPNs can improve your online privacy by routing all your web traffic through an encrypted connection to a remote server, but that protection comes at a price in the case of Surfshark VPN, one of the most expensive services we've tested.
